Hello all,
I bought my first new centerfire rifle today, a Tikka T3 stainless/composite LH in .30-06. It has a Zeiss Terra T3 4x-12x on it.
It was bore scoped by Cabela's. After 15 rounds today at the range, and not getting the sight-in job done, I am wondering how many rounds people usually take to do this with a green rifle and scope.
This is a great article, and it confirms my experience: http://ift.tt/XQt6oj
I was shooting a smallish paper target 30 yards away. I got some shots on paper, and was starting to group, then shots started not hitting the paper. I think the barrel started getting warm, which the article suggests causes problems sighting in.
Left/right seemed OK after Cabela's bore scope operation. Elevation was way high (feet, it seemed) at 30 yards. Over a few rounds fired, I turned the elevation knob (gradually, between rounds) over two revolutions. I think I am still high.
Does this seem similar to anyone's experience? Thanks for any input.
