Clam Plate Issue

Pairing an 8 inch Strikemaster Lazer up to a Milwaukee Fuel 18V hammer drill, after mounting the drill I can't attach the auger. The hole in the shaft that mounts to the drill and passes through the plate is too close to the bearing assembly. When I put the auger on the shaft the mounting hole is only half visible through the hole in the auger shaft. Also my kit is missing the bolt and wrench to attach so I was going to use the wing nut bolt from original handle setup. Anybody else have this issue? I can't call customer support until Monday. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?Attachment 74122
