Buck Rubs

I have a question, in all my years hunting in SW MI I never see early season rubs from velvet peel on my property (or in the UP, but Ive spent way less time in the woods in September in the UP), the rubs only start mid October at the on set of the rut.Does this say something about my property, what has been your experience?
