I see that here regularly. I, for one, sometimes think it is used as sort of an excuse, a lazy, dodgy attempt to convey an argument which isn't clear enough, complete enough, or articulate enough to be persuasive. So the last resort is to make it a comic, a cartoon, a photo, or a meme.

Or,alternatively, the originator of the post simply doesn't KNOW a thousand words.

Hard to say.
