What to learn first

I'm big into fly fishing, I throw a lot of streamers and poppers for bass, pike and everything else we have down here (lenawee) also I carp fish quite a bit.
I work 4-10s so I have a three day weekend pretty much all summer long starting this weekend. I am planning taking the next step as a angler and learning how to catch the fish that are in the rivers up north (trout, steelhead, salmon) I don't want to know where to go as I plan on puttin a ton of miles on the boots this year up there on the boardman, and other rivers near mancelona. My question is...

Do I need to learn how to use a indicator setup if I want to catch fish up there? do I need to learn more about how to use dry flies? Basically I know nothing about trout fishing other than a weekend I spent on the ausable catching Brookies last year.
What method will be more useful all year long that I can try to master?
