I will be spending some weekends in Alpena this winter, and would like to try fishing both of these lakes. Most of my ice fishing experience is for pan fish, but I have fished for pike and walleye, and wouldn't mind fishing for those too. Both lakes are very large, and it's kind of intimidating to just head out blind. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a good place to start on either lake?
