The perch have recovered some, still a lot of sorting. The smelt are showing up more than they have been in several years,unfortunately.
They are running a little small 4" or so
And yes MSU, you are correct.
Perch fishing is depressed by smelt through competion at the fry and juvenile age. If the smelt increase continues, we will lose the progress we have seen with perch and herring. And the invasive species nightmare rolls on.
