In my small taxidermy shop, the most popular head mount pose is called an Alert Sneak. This pose is a semi-upright with an offset shoulder and a moderate turn either left or right. This pose looks best with the ears forward.

My personal favorite is an opened mouth, flehmen pose on a semi-upright, offset shoulder, moderate turn, maniquien. This pose looks the most natural with the ears laid back. Flehmen deer mounts have the nose flared back, so there is plenty of interior nostril and...
