We had 38 people attend. This was quite a few more than I figured we could get when this started last September at the Wheatly ramp talking with Doublejay. We had a couple that could not make it due to emergencies, some had last minute conflicts and some had to leave early.
I would like to say a big thank you to the five companies that sponsored this meeting (in alphabetic order) Anglers Avenue, Domka, Dream Weaver, Gale Force, and Warrior Spoons. I hope all that attended take a minute and thank these companies for their donations. Everyone received a package with 5 items that was valued at well over the $15.00 cost to attend. I will be sending each sponsor a thank you letter with pictures.
I feel Aubree's did a great job with the food, and keeping all of us fresh on our drinks be it coffee, pop, and beer. The pizzas were great, gourmet level. The breadsticks and salad were equally good. Many of the staff looked into the room and made a comment as to how many people had come together to meet just from talking on Ship to Shore radios and fishing reports. They found it funny we could talk on radios and help each other out on fish yet never actually met.
A few people got up and shared many facts/techniques that took them years to learn fishing for the steel. One let on a major discovery on targeting salmon. This was neither solicited from them or a requirement. It was about what this meeting was for, and shows the caliber of people that attended. Thank you guys for the stand-up behavior that helped make this a success. Some of the newer fishermen were in awe of the information they received. One reported he learned more from this than he has at the seminars he has attended at the fishing shows. That's about as good a compliment as we could get... More than a few people came up and asked me who were the more experienced fishermen for the Canadian waters. I tossed out some names and they marked up the Contact Spreadsheet that was handed out and said they would make sure to talk with them before the meeting was done. They would be easy to find as we all had name tags on with Boat Names, MS nic, and real names. Spread sheet also contained many phone numbers.
OK enough talk here's some pictures.
My Kitchen table Friday night prior to assembling the goodie bags. Also why I was so persistent on who's coming and who was paid up. Was up well after 11:00 bagging this up.
Some of the assembled bags at the door.
The pizza's well some but not all.
The attendees,
