I bought a quad this year after looking for about three years. I ice fish almost everyday so I had a pretty good Idea what I wanted to replace my old Suzuki. I went with a Yamaha Grizzly 550, a 700 was on list also. I could not go any smaller and get efi.
The things I felt were important.
Electronic fuel injection
Good ground clearance
Front diff lock
A reputation for dependability
Good weight ratio to ground clearance
The Grizzly tends to be high priced both new and used but in slush and deep snow they go well. I would of considered Honda because of their reputation for dependability but they lacked a diff lock, were short on ground clearance, and are quite heavy. Suzuki makes a good quad but the brand seems to be dying in the quad market. Polaris are comfortable and have good ground clearance but the dependability, battery and belt problems, was not as good.
Quad for ice fishing/hunting opinions pls
